We are huge sports fans here at Michigan Sports and Spine. Heck, sports is in our name! Pickleball Musings
So what is Pickleball? How can I prevent injury if I want to try the sport? Where can I play pickleball in Southeastern Michigan? Is pickleball good for my health?
These are all important questions to consider, and we don’t want to leave you in a pickle (see what we did there) so we’ve curated some of the best resources on the web for you here. We were able to find a few really solid sources so rather than invent a wheel (since you know, the wheel has already been invented) we thought we’d collect a few of them here in one convenient post. So make sure you bookmark this.
Let’s start with this comprehensive piece: Pickleball: Injury Considerations in an Increasingly Popular Sport from Nicholas Greiner, DO for Missouri Medicine that appears on the National Library of Medicine website. You’ll find a ton of information here including the history of the sport, the rules, associated injuries, and injury prevention.
Next up is an article about a recent heart and movement study done by Apple that indicates pickleball has taken over tennis as the most popular racket sport and some really positive findings on the sport when it comes to health, as reported on a website called The Dink – a website where pickleball “lives.”
Last but not least for our local peeps here’s one from F2 Sports on Places To Play Pickleball In Metro Detroit Michigan.
What about you? Where do you play? Are you any good….? Hehe… Let us know in the comments!
