Overview
A sprain is a stretching or tearing of ligaments — the tough bands of fibrous tissue that connect one bone to another in the joints.
Causes
Overextension or tearing of a ligament while severely stressing a joint
Poor conditioning
Fatigue
Improper warm up
Symptoms
Pain
Swelling
Bruising
Limited ability to move the affected joint
“Popping” sound at the time of injury

RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
OTC pain reliever
