Overview
Arthritis literally means “inflammation of a joint.” The three most common types of inflammatory arthritis that affect the hip are:
Causes
Degeneration (wear and tear)
Damage to ligaments surrounding the hip joint
Aging
Osteoarthritis
Symptoms
Dull, aching pain in the groin, outer thigh, or buttocks
Pain that is worse in the morning and lessens with mild activity but increases with vigorous activity
Limited movement
Difficulty walking
